With 500-hp and the ability to go from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds we really don’t understand why tuners feel the need to offer a higher-performing Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series. But we guess too much horsepower and performance is never enough, especially when it’s focused on intant response during mid-range acceleration.
German tuner Renntech has released details and pictures of their latest project based on the CLK63 Black Series that gives the 6.3 liter V8 AMG engine the ability produce 550-hp. Performance was increased through ECU tuning and the addition of long-tube headers and a motorsport style exhaust system enhancing throttle response.
“It can be very easy to build high rpm horsepower, but to get instant throttle response and mid-range acceleration it is more difficult, and this is where customers really want to feel that improvement,” says Renntech founder Hartmut Feyhl.
